More than three dozen companies were present at the UAlg Internship Fair

The objective was to make brands known and obtain information

Enthusiasm, attention, interest and curiosity were some of the feelings aroused in the hundreds of students who visited the 2nd edition of the Internship Fair, this Tuesday, at the University of Algarve, in campus of Penha.

Gracer SA, Mercer & Marsh, Quinta do Lago and Wyndhan Grand Algarve are some of the three dozen companies that were present to make their brand known, share their contacts, provide help and create a connection with students, giving them guidance on where to start after finishing your courses.

Rubén Alves, from Wyndhan Grand Algarve, said that it is very important to be at the internship fair to bring the company closer to students, and publicize what it is like to be an intern or worker in these places.

«Our objective at this fair is to get closer to students, communicate what we have to offer and also listen to them, understand what they are looking for so that we can try to find the best platform of understanding here so that we can align ourselves and welcome them», says Rubén Alves.

From hotels, supermarket chains or spaces more focused on engineering, the various stands Their objective was to make the young public aware that they exist, who want to expand to the south of the country and attract younger people or interns so that they can have experiences.

According to Rubén Alves, students demonstrate difficulties in staying at companies, due to the fact that they have different expectations in relation to the reality of the world of work. Therefore, another objective of the fair is to answer all the questions that students may have. For this company, the younger generation must be a bet, because, «if we don't invest in our young people and don't encourage them, we run the risk of them leaving the country».

Whether by companies or students, for many it was not the first time they had visited the fair.

For Mariana, a Tourism course student, this is the second time she has attended the event, but she thinks it is interesting to visit again, as she is at the end of the course and has several options where she can start her career.

Anka, from the same course, despite being her first visit, is of the opinion that it should be a fair dedicated to companies from more diverse areas, such as those linked to the airport.

Paulo Águas, rector of UAlg, considered that the Internship Fair makes life easier for companies, which «are able to contact, on the same day, many students» and also for students who, «in a single day, are able to contact many companies».

There are two fairs of this type at the university, one in November and another in March, the internship and the employment fair, which «students join, and will continue», concluded the dean.
