PS/Algarve says that the State Budget “honors commitments” with the region

«The new Central Hospital is the cause of the causes of socialists in the Algarve», says Luís Graça

The PS/Algarve says that the State Budget, presented by the Government, «does what is necessary and honors the main commitments» of the Socialist Party with the region.

«The commitment to launch the competition for the construction of the new Algarve Central Hospital and a further reduction in tolls on Via do Infante are two of the main features of the State Budget proposal for 2024», says PS/Algarve, in a press release.

Luís Graça, president of the PS Algarve Federation, points out that, after the opening of the new hospital in Terras do Infante and the recent opening of the Ophthalmological Center in Lagos, in 2024 there will be a profound change in the management model of the National Health Service in the region with the establishment of a Local Health Unit and the beginning of a new reality of access and clinical differentiation with the opening of the competition for the Public Private Partnership of construction of the new Central Hospital, as well as the Southern Reference Oncology Center.

«This is the largest investment ever in improving healthcare in the Algarve. The new Central Hospital is the cause of the causes of the socialists in the Algarve and today we are certain that the competition for its construction will be launched», says the PS deputy.

Luis Graça also highlights the new reduction in tolls on Via do Infante, foreseen in the State Budget proposal for 2024.

«It’s another 30% discount. If we compare the value of tolls in 2011 with the value of next year we have a discount of 65%, significantly above the commitment made in 2015 by socialist deputies to reduce the value of tolls by 50%», he says.

The PS/Algarve Federation also highlights the commitments in the State Budget relating to investments in guaranteeing water, namely the construction of a desalination plant, the capture of water in Pomarão, the execution of the regional water efficiency plan, with the reduction of losses in urban use and agriculture, the reuse of treated wastewater for economic activities in the region and the beginning of feasibility studies for the Foupana Dam, the electrification of the Railway line, the construction of the road bypass to Olhão, the advancement of the Alcoutim-Sanlucar del Guadiana Bridge, the new facilities of the Judicial Police Directorate of Faro, a new residence for university students, the upgrading of the old Tavira Agricultural Station and the creation of a Multi-Annual Dredging Plan for the Algarve.
