Competition revealed the future Local Natural Reserve of Foz do Almargem and Trafal

The process of classifying Foz do Almargem and Trafal as a Local Natural Reserve is ongoing.

Around 200 people participated in the “Know and Protect” competition that took place in this Nerão, in various locations in the municipality of Loulé, with the aim of publicizing the future Local Natural Reserve of Foz do Almargem and Trafal.

After the draw, the winners were announced and received 10 explorer hats, 5 explorer backpacks and 1 polaroid camera. Furthermore, all participants received a badge with the symbol of the future Reserve and a QR Code with additional information.

The challenge consisted of correctly answering a short questionnaire about the area of ​​the future Local Natural Reserve, in order to raise awareness among residents, tourists and all those who use the space about the importance of its protection, conservation and enhancement.

According to Loulé City Council, the «outcome of this initiative was quite positive, since the majority of people recognized the area as a treasure of biodiversity to be protected and valued».

In the coming months, the Municipality will continue to carry out actions to raise awareness and promote the future Reserve, now aimed at children and young people in school contexts.

Furthermore, the process of classifying Foz do Almargem and Trafal as a Local Natural Reserve is ongoing.
