Parliament approves amendment to the statutes of professional orders

The Government diploma received votes against from PSD, Chega and PCP, while Liberal Initiative, BE and Livre abstained

Parliament approved today, October 13th, the changes to the statutes of professional orders, in a final global vote, with the favorable votes of the majority of the socialist bench.

The Government's diploma received votes against from PSD, Chega and PCP, while Liberal Initiative, BE and Livre abstained.

The final text, presented by the committees on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees, Health and Work, Social Security and Inclusion, changes the legal regime for the constitution and functioning of 20 professional orders.

The diploma modifies the statutes of the associations of Lawyers, Architects, Doctors, Dentists, Veterinarians, Engineers, Technical Engineers, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Economists, Notaries, Solicitors and Enforcement Agents, Chartered Accountants, Certified Accountants, Biologists , Psychologists, Nutritionists, Official Dispatchers, Social Workers and Nutritionists.

On July 19th, parliament generally approved the Government's proposed law on changing the statutes of Professional Orders, with only the PS voting in favor.

The text received votes against from PSD, Chega and PCP, while Liberal Initiative, Bloco de Esquerda, Livre and PAN abstained, as did four social-democratic deputies.
