Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi

For her “struggle of women in Iran against oppression”

The 2022 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded today to Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi for her “struggle of women in Iran against oppression”, announced the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

According to the committee, the choice of this activist, vice-president of the Center for Human Rights Defenders, was also due to “her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all”.

In 2022, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Ales Bialiatski, from Belarus, and the human rights organizations Memorial, from Russia, and the Center for Civil Liberties, from Ukraine.
