Vicentina visited “Viv'o Mercado” in Lagos

Viv'o Mercado takes place every Wednesday, at Mercado do Levante

The Vicentina Association visited, this Wednesday, September 13th, the “Viv'o Mercado” project, in the context of sharing good practices within the Regional Network of Local Markets (RRML)

The initiative began at 16:00 pm, in the Auditorium Paços do Concelho Séc. XXI, at Lagos City Council, a moment in which the work carried out at RRML was contextualized.

The session featured interventions by councilor Sara Coelho and councilor Luís Reis who explained the operation and organization of Viv'o Mercado, highlighting the value of organic marketing, the promotion of entrepreneurship and the involvement of the population in the purchase of local products as goals from Viv'o Mercado.

The RRML was contextualized by Aura Fraga, secretary of Vicentina, and Rita Silva, technician for the Revitalgarve project, who disclosed some of the events and activities scheduled within the scope of the project.

Herdade do Freixo do Meio stood out as the destination for the next visit, to be held in October, as part of the sharing of RRML good practices.

These interventions led to a sharing of ideas with the producers and sellers present, who were able to exchange opinions on agricultural production methods, particularly on the importance of ensuring food safety for products sold in Municipal Markets.

The visit to “Viv'o Mercado”, which aimed to survey the good practices applied there, began at 17 pm. The diversity of products sold, live music and a space dedicated to younger guests are some of its particularities.

“Viv'o Mercado” takes place every Wednesday, at Mercado do Levante, in Lagos, from 16pm to 00pm. It is a market that focuses on the sale of local, organic and seasonal products, divided into five categories: organic, conventional, processed, crafts and ready-to-eat foods/confectionery.

The Regional Network of Local Markets is an intermunicipal project framed in the Action and Development Plan for Endogenous Resources – PADRE, which encompasses 18 Municipal Markets in the Algarve. It aims to contribute to boosting the local economy, focusing on valuing local markets, quality products and local commerce, in an integrated and coordinated way.
