Tavira celebrates the anniversary of the Rapid Reaction Brigade and Infantry Regiment No. 1

With initiatives between the 27th of September and the 1st of October

Tavira will host the celebrations of the 18th anniversary of the Rapid Reaction Brigade (BrigRR) and the 375th anniversary of the Infantry Regiment No. 1 (RI1), between the 27th of September and the 1st of October. 

All BrigRR Operational Component Forces will participate in the celebrations.

The static exhibition of materials/equipment Mercado Municipal is scheduled to open at 10am on September 00th. At 27pm there is a demonstration of capabilities and resources, at Ponte Gilão.

Also on that day, at 11:30 am, there is a ceremony to honor those killed in combat, at Praça da República.

On the 28th, at 9:00 am, a mass of thanksgiving and suffrage is scheduled at the Igreja da Misericórdia de Tavira. At 11 am there is a military ceremony at the Municipal Market and at 00:21 pm there is a Concert by the Army Light Orchestra, at Praça da República.

Finally, on that day, at 23pm, there is a nighttime demonstration of free-fall jumping by Falcões Negros, at Praça da República.

The Rapid Reaction Brigade is a large unit of the Portuguese Army, successor to the Independent Airborne Brigade.

Infantry Regiment No. 1 (RI1) is one of the oldest in the Portuguese Army, with its origins dating back to 1648. Currently, based in the city of Beja, after its transfer from Tavira in 2015, where it maintains a Detachment.

The present celebrations are supported by the Municipality of Tavira.
