“Is vegetarianism a multi-solution?” is the theme of a conference in Tavira

Conference takes place on September 23rd, between 15:30 pm and 18:00 pm

The conference “The impact of our food – from sustainability to benefits in sport: Is vegetarianism a multi-solution?” takes place on the 23rd of September, between 15:30 pm and 18:00 pm, at the Tavira library.

In a note, the municipality emphasizes that this conference aims to call for change in the way the world produces and consumes food, taking into account the messages from the latest reports from the UN and other international public institutions that point to “the consumption of healthy and sustainable diets, such as those based on coarse grains, pulses and legumes, nuts and seeds” as an opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while we eat.

“The impact of our diet on health and sport” will also be discussed and the current position of the American Dietetic Association, among other references, as well as from the Directorate-General for Health, which state that this type of dietary pattern is appropriate for all people, including athletes, as long as it is well planned and adequate in all nutrients, and that, in addition, it has a more protective role for human health, in reducing the risk of developing chronic diseases.
