Four young people from the Algarve reached the podium in the International Accordion Prize which took place from the 13th to the 17th of September, in Castelfidardo (Italy).
In total, seven young people participated, with special emphasis on the 2nd place obtained by the young Loulé native Tiago Conceição in the Virtuoso category up to 15 years old; two more 2nd places obtained by the young Messinian Miguel Coelho, in the Junior Virtuoso and Junior World Music categories and also the young woman from Algoz, Bruna Palma, who obtained the 3rd prize in the Junior Virtuoso category
This competition, together with the Accordion World Cup, is currently one of the most prestigious awards worldwide in the accordion field.
The 48th edition of the PIF saw the participation of more than 150 competitors from dozens of countries distributed across different categories.
In addition to the competition itself, the PIF promoted around 50 concerts with big accordion names with free entry.
The PIF is a competition promoted by several public entities, namely the Municipality of Castelfidardo and the Pro-Loco Tourist Promotion Association, also counting on several partnerships, including accordion factories based in the region and also the television channel RAI Cultura .
In this edition, Portugal was represented by these young students of Professor Nelson Conceição and had the support of the Garvefole Accordion Association which, in turn, had the support of the Loulé City Council, the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Junta de Parish of São Clemente.
