New Avenida Aníbal Sousa Guerreiro continues the Third Circular of Faro

The consignment act was signed on September 7th, Municipality Day

The Chamber of Faro will invest around 2,1 million in the construction of the new Avenida Aníbal Sousa Guerreiro, which will connect Avenidas Mário Lyster Franco (in Lejana) and 25 de Abril (Penha area).

The contract was awarded to the group of companies Sociedade José de Sousa Barra & Filhos, Lda and Rolear.On – Soluções de Engenharia, SA for a total value of around 2,1 million euros, plus VAT at the legal rate in force.

The consignment act was signed at the Last September 7th, Municipality Day.

Following this formality, it will now be possible to start the construction of this new section, thus concluding the work on this avenue – which will now continue with Avenida Mário Lyster Franco, whose name the project of this section also assumed until now.

This intervention will guarantee a significant improvement in accessibility and fluidity in the city’s communication routes. Faro and which is part of the large municipal external road connection project, known as 3rd Circular.

On the same occasion, the toponymic plaque for the new Avenida Aníbal Sousa Guerreiro (born in 1932 and died in 2023) was also inaugurated.

Leader and social and sporting benefactor, Aníbal Guerreiro was administrator of the Aníbal Guerreiro Group, which owns, among other companies, FIAAL and Pontautos. He held management positions in several institutions, namely at Sporting Clube Farense (where he was member no. 1), at the Sociedade Columbófila de Faro, a sport where he achieved outstanding results at national and international level, and also at Casa dos Rapazes.

His love of football led him to dedicate himself to the Algarve Football Association (AFA).

In 2008, the Municipality of Faro distinguished him with the City Medal – Gold Degree.
