Twinning between Faro and the city of Hayward is formalized

A tribute to that American location was made with the letter H on the Avenue with the same name

The twinning between Faro and the city of Hayward (United States of America) was reinforced on September 7th, Municipality Day, with the formalization of the protocol between these two cities and the unveiling of a monolith in homage to that American location with the letter H in the Avenue with the same name.

«The friendship between these two cities dates back to the 60s of the 1965th century, and in XNUMX a resolution was adopted proclaiming Faro as Hayward sister City. However, the protocol for this twinning ended up not being formalized", says the Municipality of Faro in note.

Following the visit in March to the city of Hayward, as part of the inauguration of the Parque Centenário Júlio Brás in that city, a delegation that included representation from the Municipality of Faro and the University of Algarve, a commitment was made to strengthen ties between the two cities, through the signing of a twinning agreement.

 

 

The protocol ended up being signed during the solemn session of the Municipality of Faro, at Teatro das Figuras, with both Municipalities affirming their decision to maintain cordial relations of friendship and unity, for the development and well-being of both peoples, with the aim of exchanging experiences and developing common projects in different areas, with special relevance for education, economy, tourism, culture and sport.

The two parties will also facilitate cooperation and exchange between groups such as associations and clubs, companies, schools and other entities representing civil society in the two municipalities.

Another highlight was the unveiling of the Letter H, a letter that is the symbol of the city of Hayward and that from now on is present in the urban landscape of Hayward. Faro, in the middle of Avenida Cidade de Hayward.
