The Mediterranean Diet Fair is already launching its perfume in Tavira and will show the many dimensions of this cultural heritage until Sunday the 10th.
Handicrafts, gastronomy, producers, ethnography and music fit in the extensive fair program, which started yesterday, Thursday, the 7th, in the historic center of Tavira.
As had happened in 2022, the inauguration of the event was attended by Ana Abrunhosa, Minister of Territorial Cohesion.
One of the aspects of the festival that always draws a lot of people is the musical lineup. Yesterday, the main concert was performed by Miguel Araújo, who replaced Rui Veloso, who dropped out at the last minute due to a Covid-19 infection.
Today, Friday, the 8th, the auction stage will welcome fado singer Carla Pires and Daniel Pereira Cristo, cavaquinho player. On the Castle Stage, “Barrut”, from France, will perform, and, on the Bandstand Garden, “Iskaria”, from Italy.
On the main stage – Praça da República – Estrella Morente, one of the main names in Spanish music, will perform.
For Saturday, there is a performance by “Diabo a Sete”, in the auction space, by “Duo Brotto Raibaud” (Spain), in Jardim do Coreto, by “Global Gnawa” (Morocco), in Castelo, and by Camané with Orquestra do Algarve, in Praça da República.
The Fair will end on Sunday, the 10th, with a day dedicated more to youth. The shows will be by Carolina Deslandes (Praça da República), Lemma, from Algeria (Castelo) and “Os Ganhões de Castro Verde” and Pedro Ribeiro with “O Cante não cai do Céu” (Lota).
But the fair has much more to offer, from the diversified products that can be found in the many exhibitors that are present at the event, ranging from handicrafts to local products, not forgetting confectionery, among others.
As usual, Mercado da Ribeira is a space for demonstrating and disseminating local products, but also gastronomy, with showcookings promoted by chefs.
The Mediterranean Diet Fair is promoted by the Câmara de Tavira, in partnership with the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of the Algarve, the Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries, the University of Algarve, the Hotel and Tourism Schools and In Loco.
