António Franco Alexandre is the winner of the António Ramos Rosa National Poetry Prize, an initiative of the Municipal Council of Faro.

In this ninth edition, which has the high sponsorship of the Millennium BCP Foundation and the support of the Regional Directorate of
Cultura do Algarve, Algarve Tourism Region, University of Algarve, Eva Senses, Tertúlia Algarvia and JL – Jornal de Letras, Artes e Ideias, the distinguished book was “Poemas”.

The jury, made up of the poet and professor Luís Quintais, professor Ana Isabel Soares, professor at the University of Algarve, and the journalist Inês Fonseca Santos, unanimously decided to award the prize to this work, for her unpublished book Carousel, included in it .

For the members of the jury, Carousel “expands and redefines the terms in which his journey has been built since his first book (…). A journey through a “transdisciplinary conveyor”, which, more than spaces, travels through times (…) It was this temporal amplitude, which inscribes in verse a place of us, a place of understanding and reading transversal to every Western human being – capable of reading what is distant from oneself, even if unavoidably rooted in the current time».

The Award ceremony will take place on October 28th, at 16pm, in the Auditorium of the Municipal Library of Faro.
