The first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Algarve Tourism Board (RTA) after the election of the new president André Gomes ends with a visit to the rock salt mine of Loulé.

The meeting is scheduled for next Monday, the 28th of August, and is intended to discuss the activity of the entity responsible for promoting the Algarve in Portugal and Spain.

At the end of the meeting, according to the RTA, "the leaders will visit the rock salt mine of Loulé, the only one in the country with extraction in tunnels and which allows tourist tours at a depth of 230 meters, between kilometers of salt galleries".

The visit to equipment with importance for tourism is here to stay. «The idea of having visits after the monthly meetings of the Executive Committee aims to better understand the tourist resources available in the region, giving visibility to equipment and projects that show good practices or that represent good examples of the sector's offer», he underlines. the RTA, in a note sent to the newsrooms.

The Loulé rock salt mine is operated by Techsalt, a partner company of the Grupo Dinamizador of the Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network, of which RTA is a member, and recently received a "Travellers' Choice" award from Tripadvisor, based on reviews of users of this travel site.

Known for being the deepest tourist site in the country, the mine «reconciles extractive activity with mining tourism, providing a differentiating experience that greatly enhances the offer of industrial tourism in the region. Furthermore, it is an admirable scenic space, with salt stalactites and enormous exploration potential in the form of concerts and exhibitions in the underground of Loulé», reasons enough to justify the visit of RTA leaders to the mine.

«Over time, this approach of visits by RTA leaders to different tourist resources will make it possible to make more informed and strategic decisions for the development of the region», he concludes.
