Anderlecht defeated Sporting by 2-1, in the second game of the third round of the International Masters Futsal 2023, with well-composed stands of around 700 supporters dressed in green and white.

After Tomás Paçó's goal in the first half, Luca Cragnaz's side turned the score around in the second half, and Marcênio scored the winning goal just 6 seconds from the horn.

The Belgian champion added the first points and faces Benfica this Sunday morning.

The Leon team now has two defeats, both by the smallest difference, and closes the Masters tomorrow afternoon against Palma, in the rerun of the last Champions League final.

In Sporting's initial choices, Nuno Dias – without Cavinato in the options – this time gave the goal to Gonçalo Portugal, behind João Matos, Merlim, Taynam and Zicky.

On the side of Anderlecht, Cristiano remained as a bet on goal, alongside Gréllo, Rangel, Jelovcic and Vilela. Goalkeeper Roncaglio, injured, was again out of the picture.

The first minutes saw the Portuguese champion ascending, more accurate in the construction and in the pass to boost the 3:1, for Zicky, Sokolov and Neves, the first two left-handers.

On the other side, Vilela and Saura were the alternating bets for the pivot position, with an organized three-way exit, but with several inconsequential possessions, also the result of effective pressure from Leon. The central aisle was “expensive”, overcoming individual defense also had its cost. More aggressive than desirable – 3-4 in fouls in the first few minutes – the ball moved at good speed and with objectivity.

The opening goal appeared in the 11th minute in a well-crafted move by Sporting. Offensive dynamics in width and depth – as he often did – the ball reaches Zicky on the right, from his back and above the area, he steps to threaten the rotation inwards but steps into the good overlap of Tomás Paçó, who shoots first, crossing, to the bottom of the nets.

Anderlecht could have equalized shortly afterwards, but Pauleta on top of the line, and the crossbar on the rebound, prevented the ball from going in.

Zicky hit the post, ball here and ball there, danger shots in both areas until the break. Slim, fair advantage for Sporting, but the first half deserved more goals.

After the break, the profile of the match was maintained, with good intensity and both teams trying to be happy.

Anderlecht equalized in the 29th minute, with a shot by Cainan, which deflected into an opponent and betrayed Gonçalo.

The Belgian team reached the fifth foul at 1:53 from the horn, and bet on Gréllo as the forward goalkeeper. With 36 seconds left it was Merlin who made the fifth foul, which greatly increased the emotion. Uncertainty about the winner and the result, one of the hallmarks of Futsal.

Starting to build, Pauleta lost the ball on the wing to Marcênio, who drove in the middle to the edge of the area, faced Gonçalo Portugal and dodged with class for the second goal, with just 6 seconds left.

In penalties – there is a tiebreaker in this way at the end of all matches - Anderlecht also won by 6-5, after 14 kicks.

Word to coaches:

Nuno Dias:
“We improved something compared to the previous game. The important thing about the game is effectiveness, of course. And in that respect Anderlecht were better than us. We identified some problems and managed to improve, but we have to analyze and continue to improve. Regarding the tournament, which is already of excellence, congratulations to the organization for this initiative that was yesterday's Summit.. We congratulate all those who were able to attend.”

Tomás Paço:
“Effectiveness helps, of course. We are in pre-season. It's better to win even when we're preparing, but we know we're on the right track. We know perfectly well what we have to improve.”

Luca Cragnaz:
“At the end of the game it could have gone either way, but luckily it fell for us. It was very good for Anderlecht. The Summit was a huge event. Thank you for the invite. Sharing knowledge is always great for everyone.”

Cainan:
“Very positive for us. We know our virtues and also what we have to correct. We were very competitive today, which we weren't able to do yesterday.”
