IPMA weather forecast

Faro and Beja are among the nine districts of mainland Portugal that will be under yellow warning from Friday due to the heat and some will change to orange over the weekend, announced the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to the IPMA, the yellow warning – the least serious of a scale of three – will be active from 12:00 on Friday in Faro, Beja, Setúbal and Lisbon, evolving to orange (the second most serious) in Setúbal and Lisbon from Saturday, extending at least until 00:00 on Sunday.

In the district of Lisbon, in addition to the hot weather, the wind had already caused the IPMA to activate the yellow warning from 12:00 today, remaining at least until the end of the day (21:00).

The persistence of high temperature values led the IPMA to also place a yellow warning on the districts of Évora, Portalegre, Santarém, Leiria and Castelo Branco from 12:00 on Saturday, extending until 00:00 on Sunday.

The Civil Protection, which placed the whole country under yellow alert, also warned of the dangers of hot and dry weather, particularly with regard to fires.
