Theatre, jazz and the return of the Theater Reading Club. Mákina de Cena, in Loulé, has a lot to offer throughout September.

On the first three Saturdays of the month, the Morning Act cycle will resume, taking Loulé to theater for the whole family. The pieces will take place in a public space and will be free of charge.

The September edition of the Morning Act cycle starts next Saturday, the 2nd, at 11:00 am, at Cerca do Convento Espírito Santo, with the play TIME, a creation of “Teatrão”, signed by Aldara Bizarro, for ages 12 and up .

On the 9th, it is the turn of AMIJIK, a production by Ana Brum, played by Catarina Mota, to perform in the cloisters of the Convento Espírito Santo, as usual at 11 am.

AMIJIK is a wordless physical theater show, aimed at people over 3 years old, that talks about loneliness and the search for belonging in an increasingly fast-paced and consumerist society.

The cycle is completed on the following Saturday with the show “A Carripana”, by the Algarve company LAMA Teatro. It will take place on the 16th, at 11 am, at Cerca do Convento Espírito Santo.

September also marks the return of Mákina de Cena's regular programming. On the 20th, at 21 pm, Casa da Mákina receives Elmano Sancho for what will be the first Theatrical Reading Club of the season.

Actor, director and playwright, Elmano Sancho will bring his work to shared reading in this informal club open to all interested parties. Admission is free and subject to registration via email [email protected].

Sunday, the 24th, at 18 pm, Casa da Mákina becomes, once again, a Jazz Club, this time to the sound of PLINT

Tickets for the show cost 5 euros and must be reserved by email [email protected].

Alongside the intense programming, September also marks the resumption of activities linked to training and mediation.

The Onix Project – Meeting of All Voices, an original idea by Patrícia Amaral, challenged the public of all ages, with and without training, to participate in the creation of a community choir and the results of this call exceeded expectations.

The population of the municipality of Loulé joined en masse and there will be more than 50 participants who, between the 4th and 8th of September, will develop a joint creative process in which they will work on a traditional and fusion repertoire that will culminate, on Saturday the 9th, in a presentation in a public space, at a time and place to be announced.

Also noteworthy is colecTA 23 – Colectivo Teatral do Algarve, a project with unique characteristics that aims to recognize and unite theater professionals in the Algarve.

The Workshop “The Actor and Neutrality”, guided by Nuno Pino Custódio, is the first phase of the creation of this Theatrical Collective and will take place until September 2nd at the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, in Loulé.

Also integrated in colecTA 23, will take place on the 19th of September, the Workshop on Scenic Lighting – The Invisible Light, coordinated by Mafalda Soares de Oliveira, which will start a cycle of workshops to support theatrical creation, taking place between September and October, which will cover areas such as lighting, cultural production and scenography and costumes.

The Invisible Light will take place at the IPDJ facilities in Faro on the 19th, 20th and 21st of September and is open to all interested parties. Entries or requests for information must be made via email: [email protected].

On the 8th, the creation residency will begin with this collective of actors and actresses from the Algarve in a creative process of developing a theater show that will last until November, over a period of 8 weeks. This residency will take place in different areas of the region, spread over the municipalities of Lagoa, Lagos and Loulé. The premiere of the show is scheduled for the 10th of November at Cineteatro Louletano.
