The 6th workshop on Community-Based Local Development (DLBC), with the themes of education, inclusion and cohesion, organized by the Vicentina association, took place this Thursday, July 20, in the meeting room of the Portimão Museum.

The session was introduced by Aura Fraga, Vicentina's secretary, explaining «that the definition of priority themes and strategy objectives has been a continuous process that cuts across all sessions».

The initiative also served to talk about the «problem of territorial cohesion, highlighting the existing asymmetries between the south coast and the interior, in low-density councils».

Some of the issues highlighted were early school leaving, the seasonality of employment and the difficulty of retaining young people, the isolation of the elderly and the growth of the foreign population and the consequent increase in interculturality in the Algarve, with the need for inclusion.

The 6th thematic workshop was the last one before the signature session of a partnership protocol, which takes place on the 27th of July, at 14 pm, in the Auditorium Paços do Concelho Séc. XXI, in the Chamber of Lagos.

The ADERE 2020 Partners from the areas of Education, Inclusion and Cohesion and the partner municipalities were present at the meeting.

Community-Based Local Development (DLBC) is a form of integrated approach to territorial development which, in its rural aspect, is supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), through the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC) .
