Fernando da Conceição Santos, former president of the Municipal Assembly of Silves, has died at the age of 79, announced this Tuesday, July 18, the Silves Council.
Born in the parish of Silves on November 15, 1943, Fernando da Conceição Santos was president of the Municipal Assembly of Silves for the Socialist Party following the first democratic elections held on December 12, 1976.
The former mayor developed his professional activity in the Treasury of the Silves Finance Service.
As part of his civic action, he was a member of the governing bodies of institutions such as Silves Futebol Clube, Associação de Socorros Mútuos João de Deus, Caixa de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo de Silves and the Operária cooperative “A Compensadora”.
