For more than 20 years, he toured Europe. Now, it is in Aljezur ready to be seen. In the “Library of strings and knots”, there are unpublished manuscripts, texts, scores, drawings, objects found in the trash and cylinders full of messages made of strings and knots.

This installation can be visited from this Wednesday, July 12th, at 21:30, integrated into the Teatro de Palha, in the Feiteirinha Industrial Zone, in Aljezur.

Created by José Antonio Portillo based on school and community work, this is a show-installation that can also be visited from Thursday to Sunday, from 19 pm.

The story of how this library came to Aljezur is told by Pedro Quintela, the architect responsible for the design of the “Teatro de Palha”.

«After the theater project was completed, artistic director Giacomo Scalisi told me that we would have the opportunity to exhibit this installation during the last week of the program. A little flustered by the last minute news and the choice of its place, my first proposal was to place it in the street, at the door of the theatre, assuming it as an independent play », he says.

The final idea turned out to be another.

«I usually draw the lines of people's journeys in the plans of my projects and even the hidden geometric shapes of their spaces. In the area where João Mariano's photographic exhibition is on display, he had drawn a route along a circumference with the exact measurement of this installation. It was right there that I felt the request for the piece to be placed and shared », he explains.

For these last days, “Lavrar o Mar” prepared more cinema (“Tenho Sonhos Elétricos”, by Valentina Maurel, on the 13th) and music, with Carlos Bica, one of the great names of jazz in Portugal (on the 14th), Sopa de Pedra (15th) and Cosmological Cabaret (16th).
