Quarteira sanitation failure does not influence bathing water quality

«After the ban, last Tuesday (and which was lifted the next day), the municipality went through «everything with a fine-tooth comb» and found «nothing»

The Loulé Council detected, this Thursday, July 27, a technical fault at a point in the sanitation network, in Quarteira, but which is “in no way” related to the recent ban on bathing on the beaches of Quarteira and Vale do Lobo .

In statements to the Sul Informação, Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, said that the municipality wanted to take note of this failure, in a public statement, also so that «the issues are not related».

"After the ban, last Tuesday (and it was picked up the next day), the municipality went through «everything with a fine-tooth comb» and found «nothing».

«There was no trace and these are situations that are not related», guaranteed the mayor.

Furthermore, Pedro Coelho, regional director of the Portuguese Environment Agency, had already told the Sul Informação that, by all indications, the source of pollution was punctual, "probably of maritime origin".

Analyzes of the water quality on the beaches in Quarteira, Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago have been good, revealing “constant values well below” the reference parameters, according to the communiqué from the Câmara de Loulé.

As for this malfunction, it is already being fixed.

"The Municipality of Loulé, in conjunction with the Portuguese Environment Agency and Águas do Algarve, will continue to monitor and monitor the general conditions of bathing water quality on all the beaches on its coast", concludes the statement.
