AMAL opens new applications to support efficient water management projects

Chambers, companies and municipal services can apply

AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve has just launched the 3rd Notice, worth 14 million euros, to support projects that promote the efficient management of water supply systems in the region. Applications can be submitted until the 29th of September and the Recovery and Resilience Program (PRR).

The main beneficiaries of this Notice are the management entities of the water supply networks in Baixa, namely City Councils, Companies and Municipal Services.

Operations aimed at reducing real losses in water distribution systems in downtown Algarve are eligible, namely the rehabilitation of degraded or inadequate infrastructure for good management of real losses, pressure management and detection of leaks in components of the most problematic infrastructure in actual losses.

Only operations whose maximum period of execution is one and a half years (18 months) will be accepted, counting from the date of signature of the Term of Acceptance, and the opportunity for its extension may be assessed by submitting a duly substantiated request and safeguarding the achievement of contracted targets.

The maximum amount allocated to this Notice is 14 million euros, which can be increased by submitting worthy applications, which ensure a high reduction in real water losses.

The support given will be non-refundable, a 100% non-refundable subsidy financed through the fund Next Generation US.

The deadline for submitting applications runs until the 29th of September of this year, and the Notice can be consulted at by clicking here.

The execution of the investment associated with the Water Efficiency Plan in the Algarve, as part of the PRR and which involves other measures in addition to the one managed by AMAL (Measure SM1 – Reduce Water Losses in the Urban Sector), is coordinated by the Portuguese Environment Agency, through the Administration of the Hydrographic Region of the Algarve.
