Students Carmen Santos, Joana Gil, Maria Carvalho and Pandora Francisco, from the Dr. Alberto Iria, from Olhão, took first place in the Student Author category, in the English subject, in the 5th edition of the Milage Aprendir+ Awards, thanks to a work that was supervised by Professor Lúcia Tardão.

The young women received the award from the hands of João Costa, Minister of Education, in a ceremony that took place in Sesimbra and which was attended by a delegation from the municipality of Olhão, made up of students, teachers and parents.

The delegation from Olhão also participated in the VII International Conference on Mobile Learning, dedicated to the theme “The challenges of Education in the XNUMXst Century”.

In addition to the awarded students, there were more students from Olhão who applied for the Student Author category, in the disciplines of Mathematics, Portuguese and English. The Author Teacher modality also featured presentations by teachers from the various school groups in Olhão in the same areas.

«To combat school failure, the municipality proposed that school groups in the municipality join the Milage Aprendir+ Project, in partnership with the University of the Algarve. This project is based on a learning platform developed by that higher education institution, which allows the implementation of an innovative pedagogical model through the provision of tasks and tutorials from the 1st year to the 12th year of the various subjects of basic and secondary education», framed the Câmara de Olhão .

«Education is essential for the formation of citizens and for the improvement of society. Pedagogy is responsible for knowledge and the development of useful skills for the individual to act in the community», believes Elsa Parreira, councilor for education at the municipality.

The Municipality assumed the total investment to implement the platform «covering three school years (2021 to 2024)» and the provision of a municipal bus and a driver to make the trip to Sesimbra.
