The number of unemployed people registered at employment centers fell 3,6% in May in year-on-year terms, to 285.855, "the lowest figure ever" in that month and 3,2% below April, the Government announced today.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, “285.855 people were registered in the IEFP [Institute of Employment and Vocational Training] in May, which represents a decrease of 3,2% (-9.567 people) compared to the previous month. and -3,6% (-10.539 people) compared to the level observed in May 2022».
The number of unemployed young people registered fell by 5,8% (-1.861 people) compared to the previous month, «reaching the second lowest value ever in the month of May», but was 1,2% above (+359 people) May 2022.
As for long-term unemployment (116.729 people), it showed a chain drop of 2,5% (-2.871 people) and retreated 21,8% compared to May 2022 (-31.784 people).
