About half a thousand athletes will compete this weekend, 17th and 18th of June, the «Monte Gordo Cup», the first international 7-a-side football tournament.
Between 8:00 am and 20:00 pm, 32 teams (8 Benjamins, 8 Traquinas and 16 Children) will fight for the title of winner of this new competition.
On the 17th of June, the Benjamins 2013 and the Traquinas 2015 will play and, on the 18th of June, the Infantis 2010/2011 will take to the field.
The event is organized by the Associação Escolas Futebol Monte Gordo and aims to boost sport in the municipality and make this event a reference for youth football in the Algarve. The athletes come from all over the Algarve, Alentejo and neighboring Spain.
O «Monte Gordo Cup» has the support of the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, the Sports Complex of VRSA and the Parish Council of Monte Gordo.
Entrance costs 1 euro.
