For six years, Algarve photographer João Mariano has followed all the activities of “Lavrar o Mar”. Thousands of photographs were taken and some of them are now part of the exhibition “Essay on visual osmosis” that can be seen in the “Teatro de Palha”.

And nothing better than being precisely in a show of “Lavrar o Mar” that these photos can be appreciated. The “Teatro de Palha” is set up until the 16th of July, at the Feiteirinha Industrial Park, in Aljezur.

About this exhibition, João Mariano recalls the work he has been doing with “Lavrar o Mar”, in Aljezur and Monchique, and “Lavrar o Mira e a Lagoa”, in Odemira and Santiago do Cacém.

«For 6 years I have been following closely (sometimes too closely according to some directors) all the activities of “Lavrar o Mar” and its younger brother “Lavrar o Mira e a Lagoa”. In a relationship of extreme complicity, I was impregnated with the constant visual dialogues, the interaction with the public, the ubiquitous acrobatics, the eloquent poetry », he says, in a post on social networks.

«I'm always there, watching, working, absorbing, not as invisible as I like, but always trying to create something, as an author, that reaches, reaches and can cause reflection in the receiver», he adds.

As for the “Teatro de Palha” it continues until the 16th of July.

This Thursday, June 29th, there will be a cinema with the film “Alcarràs”, by Carla Simón, and another DJ set by Big Lebowski. The Makossa Brothers perform on the 30th and the Tiktek Ensemble on the 1st of July.

On the same day, there will be a new circus with “Une Partie de Soi” and more cinema, on the 2nd, with “Águas do Pastaza”, by Inês T. Alves.

The third weekend begins with the documentary “Cesária Évora” (6) and a concert by Mariana Root (7). The dance with “Nu Meio – Bailão” will mark the 8th and the cinema with “Aftersun” will close another weekend.

For the last few days, “Lavrar o Mar” prepared more cinema (“Tenho Sonhos Elétricos”, by Valentina Maurel, on the 13th) and music, with Carlos Bica, one of the great names of jazz in Portugal (on the 14th), Sopa de Pedra (15th) and Cosmological Cabaret (16th).
