Municipality of Tavira with very high fire danger

The municipality of Tavira today presents a very high danger of rural fire, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The neighboring municipality of São Brás de Alportel is at high risk, according to information published on the IPMA website.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has also placed 33 municipalities in the district of Faro, Beja, Setúbal, Évora and Leiria.

The fire risk determined by the IPMA has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.

Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

The IPMA forecasts for today point to periods of very cloudy skies, with generally little cloudiness in the southern region.

Showers are forecast in the North and Center regions, especially during the afternoon inland, where they may be accompanied by a thunderstorm.

The wind will be weak, blowing temporarily moderate (20 to 30 km/h) from the west quadrant during the afternoon, especially in the Center and South regions.

Fog or morning fog and a slight drop in the minimum temperature are also expected, especially on the coast of the North and Center regions, and a small rise in the maximum temperature in the interior of the South region.

Maximum temperatures will fluctuate between 18 degrees Celsius in Guarda and 27 in Évora and Aveiro.
