Collision at IC1 leaves 6 injured and causes fire already under control

Traffic, which has already been cut off, «remains conditioned»

A collision between two light vehicles, on the afternoon of Thursday, June 22nd, injured six people and caused a fire on the edge of the IC1, in the Perna Seca area (São Bartolomeu de Messines). 

The accident happened around 16:30 pm, at kilometer 715.

A source from the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command told Sul Informação that all the wounded are men. One of them was in serious condition.

Traffic, which has already been cut off, «remains conditioned, taking place in only one lane».

The accident, which caused a great deal of publicity, also caused a fire in a wooded area on the side of the road.

In the fight against the flames, there were close to 40 operators, supported by an air force, but the fire was already controlled.
