André Gomes elected president of the RTA and promises «a lot of commitment and determination»

André Gomes will take office on the 1st of August

André Gomes has just been elected president of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) until 2028. The single candidate promises “a lot of commitment and determination, in favor of the sector”.

Of the 33 voters, the electoral act had the participation of 31. The competing list, headed by André Gomes, collected 24 votes. There were 5 blank and 2 null votes.

In statements to the Sul Informação, the new president of the RTA noted with “great satisfaction the responsible participation and commitment of all members in an election with a single list, something that brings us more responsibility”.

For André Gomes, this result is a «sign of unity for the entire public and private sector».

For his part, the newly elected leader of the RTA promised "a lot of commitment and a lot of determination".

«As I said in the presentation, my flags they are a first look at the house, making it more robust, with more capacity, with more possibilities for action», he added to our newspaper.

Thus, André Gomes promised that "he will fight for more skills" and "for financial strength so that the RTA can develop its activity in a calm way".

As for the Board of the General Assembly, Hélder Martins, current leader of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA), was re-elected president, while the president of the Portuguese Association of Recreational Ports (APPR) Isolete Correia was re-elected secretary.

For the new term of office of the governing bodies of the RTA, Fátima Catarina, current vice-president of the Executive Committee, and the director of the Airport of Faro Alberto Mota Borges were both elected to the executive body, which will also include Vítor Guerreiro, mayor of São Brás de Alportel, representing the municipalities, and José Matias, president of Algarve Golf – Associação Regional de Golfe do Sul, co-opted as representative of private entities.

André Gomes will take office on the 1st of August.
