UAlg signs protocol with the National University of Timor Lorosa'e

UNTL delegation visited the Campus of Gambelas

The promotion of scientific, academic and technical cooperation initiatives. This is the main objective of a protocol signed, this Wednesday, April 3, between the University of the Algarve (UAlg) and the National University Timor Lorosa'e (UNTL), at the Gambelas Campus. 

This protocol, which comes within the scope of the visit to UAlg by a delegation from UNTL, intends to stimulate the exchange of teachers, researchers and students.

«With regard to students, technical and scientific cooperation in laboratory terms is foreseen, collaboration in the fields of teaching and training actions, research in specific fields and joint participation in applications of an international nature», says the UAlg.

Led by the rector of UNTL João Soares Martins, the Timorese delegation, which was received by the rector of UAlg Paulo Águas, also included the vice-rector for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance Samuel Freitas, the vice-rector for Post -Graduation and Research Afonso de Almeida, the general director of Support Services for the Rectory Jacinto Belo and the advisor to the Rectory and executive secretary of the rector Diogo Freitas da Silva.

At 14:30 pm, a meeting was held at the rectory of the University of Algarve, attended by members of the rectory team, the directors of the organic units and the coordinators of the research units of the UAlg. In this session, visitors were able to learn a little about what is done at the institution in the Algarve and there was space for the discussion of themes of common interest, such as Tourism, Agriculture, Technologies, Sea and Health.

Finally, at 16 pm, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the research laboratories of the Center for Electronics, Optoelectronics and Telecommunications (CEOT), the Center for Marine Sciences (CCMAR) and the UAlg branch of the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED).
