Ana Varges Gomes, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), considers that users «must maintain trust» in Hospital de Faro, even after the complaints made by internal physician Diana de Carvalho Pereira of alleged errors and cases of negligence in the surgery service.
The statements were made on the sidelines of the signing of the protocol between the Association of Municipalities Loulé/Faro and CHUA for the assignment of the land where the Southern Reference Oncology Center.
«I think we have to remain calm and stop a little with this social alarm, which seems to me to be unreasonable given the size of what has been the health care response that we have had in the region», Ana Varges Gomes also said.
The president of the Board of Directors of CHUA reinforced that Hospital de Faro it has «improved the quality of the care provided» and «what are the equipment available to make both diagnosis and treatment to people».
«A great investment has been made in the region in this regard. We have also diversified the offer of decentralized treatments, that is, taking the consultations only from the hospitals and passing them on to the proximity, to the Health Centers», he also said, adding that a further step will be taken in this direction with the collection of the analyzes clinics that will be carried out in the Health Centers.
O The Public Prosecutor's Office has already launched an investigation about the alleged errors and cases of negligence in the surgery service of Hospital de Faro denounced by the intern physician Diana de Carvalho Pereira.
The inquiry follows the complaint about "11 cases that occurred between January and March" in the hospital of Faro of «error/negligence» in the surgery service.
