MP opens inquiry into alleged errors denounced by intern physician at Hospital de Faro

This inquiry follows the complaint made by the intern physician Diana de Carvalho Pereira

The Public Prosecutor's Office launched an inquiry into alleged errors and cases of negligence in the surgery service at Hospital de Faro denounced by an internal doctor, announced this Monday, April 10, the Attorney General's Office (PGR).

«The initiation of an inquiry related to the matter in question is confirmed. The same runs terms in the DIAP [Department of Investigation and Penal Action] of Faro», advanced the PGR to the Lusa agency.

This inquiry follows the complaint made by the internal physician Diana de Carvalho Pereira, reported on her account on the social network Twitter and on Instagram, at the Judiciary Police about "11 cases that occurred between January and March" at the hospital of Faro of «error/negligence» in the surgery service.

According to the doctor, of the reported cases of 11 patients, "three died, two are hospitalized in intermediate care, the rest had bodily injury associated with medical error, ranging from accidental castration, loss of kidneys or the need for a colostomy for the rest of the life".

Lusa also asked the Ordem dos Médicos for a reaction on these complaints, but has not received a response so far.
