Castro Marim hosts the regional final of the National Reading Contest

Final takes place on the 18th of April, at 10:30 am

The Municipal Library of Castro Marim will host, on April 18, at 10:30 am, the regional final of the 16th edition of the National Reading Contest (CNL) 2022/23, which will bring together around 100 students from primary and secondary education .

From each level of education, two winners are selected to represent the Algarve in the final, in Lisbon.

«The main objectives of the CNL are to promote a taste for reading among young people, to get to know authors from different generations and different literary styles, in a meeting that intends to be a great book festival and a healthy conviviality among all participants, in around reading», says the municipality.

With two selection tests (written and oral, on stage), the competition includes the works “A Menina com os Olhos Ocupados”, by André Carilho, Porto Editora, (1st Cycle), “Noa”, by Susana Cardoso Ferreira and Raquel Costa, Oficina do Livro, (2nd Cycle), “Flush, Biografia de um Cão”, by Virgínia Woolf, Livros do Brasil, (3rd Cycle), and “The Postman by Pablo Neruda”, António Skarmeta , Editorial Theorem (secondary education).

The jury is made up of writers from the territory: José Carlos Barros, LeYa Prize 2021, Ana Amorim Dias and Fátima Valentim.

The National Reading Contest is an initiative promoted within the scope of the National Reading Plan, in partnership with the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries, School Libraries Network, local authorities and RTP.
