President of Misericórdias visited work at Lar de São Brás de Alportel

Investment is around 2,5 million euros

Manuel de Lemos, president of the União das Misericórdias Portuguesas, visited, on the 28th of February, the work of the Lar da Misericórdia de São Brás de Alportel, an investment of around 2,5 million euros. 

The initiative was accompanied by Margarida Flores, director of the District Social Security Center of Faro, technicians from Misericórdia and City Council.

The expansion is being carried out with the construction of a new area from scratch that will allow expanding the reception capacity of Santa Casa da Misericórdia in 12 new double rooms, accompanied by a living room and activities and support compartments.

A part of the existing area will be preserved and remodeled to ensure greater comfort for users.

The execution of this project foresees the expansion to 85 beds of capacity and the prediction of an agreement to be signed with the Social Security for this capacity, hoping that this number can be increased in the future to respond to the growing need for this vital support for families .

The work is funded by the European Union, through the Portugal 2020 – CRESC Algarve program, as well as by the Rainha D. Leonor Fund and the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, which aims to increase the quality of services provided by the institution. and responsiveness regarding the number of users supported and providing them with better comfort conditions, as well as the creation of new jobs.
