Minister of Economy went to São Brás de Alportel to meet a Globalfire with an export vein

Within the scope of the + Next Government initiative

António Costa Silva, Minister of Economy, visited on Wednesday, the 1st, Globalfire Equipment, a company from São Brás de Alportel that employs more than one hundred and a half workers and is an international reference in fire detection technology, within the scope of of the “Closest Government” initiative, which took place on the 1st and 2nd of March and brought the Government “in weight” to the region.

The minister got to know better this company which, according to the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, «exports to almost a hundred countries in the world, from the Industrial Zone of Barrabés», according to the municipality.

The member of the Government «visited this area of ​​the municipality, which constitutes one of the most dynamic axes of economic development, where some private investments are already located that are a reference in several areas, among which the complementary sectors to civil construction and the extractive industries of stone».

During the visit, António Costa Silva was «happy» to find a company of these characteristics in São Brás de Alportel and highlighted «the company's interesting connection to technological development and collaboration with the University of the Algarve».

Vitor Guerreiro, mayor, said that this company «is a source of pride for the county, it gives notoriety and projects São Brás de Alportel», taking the name of the municipality «to the whole world».

The mayor of the municipality and the councilors Marlene Guerreiro and Acácio Martins presented to the minister some of the projects of the municipality's development strategy and to request the support of the Government for the execution of some of the structuring projects for the municipality, starting with the infrastructure and dynamization of the Park Business of São Brás de Alportel.

This is «a municipal project, essential for establishing companies and creating jobs, in an area of ​​18 hectares, with 25 plots for commerce, services and industry, with 36.000 m2 of planned construction area, where it is intended to create a center of business incubation and hosting companies in different areas».

The new Business Park, a «vital project for the economic development of São Brás de Alportel», where some companies are already installed, has «the ambition to boost endogenous resources, such as carob, stone and cork, in a bets on innovation and technological modernization, a bridge between the past and the future».

Requalification of the road axis – EM 514, which connects this area of ​​economic dynamism to the connection to the A22, through the Olhão/Moncarapacho junction, is another of the «structuring» projects and «fundamental for business attractiveness» defended by the municipality.

The mayors of São Paulo stressed "the absolute importance of investing in improving digital accessibility, which is currently of vital importance, along with physical accessibility".

Vitor Guerreiro also referred to the urgency of moving forward with the requalification project for the EN2 and Connection to the A22, «which is in the process of perfecting the execution project, and whose implementation is assumed to be decisive for the development of the municipality».

The Business Incubation and Entrepreneurship Centre, to be set up in the 4 Olhos Quarter, the Arts Workshop, through the rehabilitation of the former Olive Oil Press, are other works included in the dossier handed over by the municipality to the Minister of Economy.
