Gillian Catto, a woman with more than 40 years of experience in the art world, will showcase her artistic diversity at the Designer Outlet Algarve during the month.
After 30 years of success as a gallery owner in London, Gillian Catto decided to settle in the Algarve and since opening her space in the historic building in the center of Loulé in 2011, ArtCatto has held several events, exhibiting some of the best paintings , sculptures and photographs by national and international artists.
Gillian Catto was responsible for launching the careers of artists who later became household names, such as Jack Vettriano, Portuguese artist Pedro Guimarães, Philip Jackson, who is the sculptor with the most commissions for the royal family and the United Kingdom, Jonty Hurwitz, of South Africa, or urban artist Dom Pattinson.
The vision for the space granted by Designer Outlet Algarve is to demonstrate a little of the gallery's diversity, exhibiting some of the artists it represents.
An example of this is the first presentation, which features a bronze sculpture by the artist Anneke Bester, a work by the urban artist Dom Pattinson, the spontaneous realism of the artist Voka and, finally, an explosion of colors by the Portuguese pop artist Pedro Guimarães. The plan will be, with some regularity, to change the exhibited works.
Miguel Paraíso Guerreiro, director general of Designer Outlet Algarve, considers that «the presence of works from one of the most notable art galleries in the country is very special for Designer Outlet Algarve, ««because it allows us to reinforce our commitment to supporting and disseminating what is best done in the Algarve in terms of quality art and at the same time enriches our space».
