Algarve will once again have INEM regional delegation

This delegation will be installed in the new regional headquarters that is being built, in Loulé, next to the Municipal Cemetery

The Algarve will again have a regional delegation from the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEM), which will allow it to recover its full operational capacity, announced this Thursday, March 2, the Minister of Health. after the decentralized Council of Ministers, in Faro.

«The Council of Ministers approved a decree-law that changes the organic law of INEM and that makes INEM recover, in the Algarve, its regional delegation», said Manuel Pizarro, for whom this decision is «very important, from the point of view from an operational point of view".

This delegation will be installed in the new regional headquarters that is being built, in Loulé, next to the Municipal Cemetery.

The building, which will be ready by the end of the year, will allow CODU to return to the Algarve, just like the Sul Informação already reported.

After the closure of its regional delegation in the Algarve, in 2012, during the intervention of the troika, and the transfer of the valences to Lisbon, the region will have this center again, this time in Loulé.

The 2012 decision "removed operating capacity in that region, which is now fully recovered", assured Manuel Pizarro, adding that INEM operates, in the Algarve, 42 emergency means to help the population.

«We are thus preparing the conditions for a reinforcement of the medical emergency in the Algarve region, which will also have a very important point, which is the transfer to the new facilities», a work that will be completed at the end of this year, said the minister.

Manuel Pizarro also advanced that the reopening of the INEM regional delegation is one of the «elements of the effort» that the Government is making to qualify the health services in the Algarve, which «require a very specific way of articulation».

«It is the only region of the country that is confronted with the regular assistance to a population of around half a million inhabitants, but that, in many moments, is more than twice that number, which demands a local capacity of coordination, direction and articulation that is fully recovered", he said.

The second edition of “Governo + Próxima” started on Wednesday and ends today, with a program of over 60 initiatives in all the municipalities of the Algarve, with the presence of several ministers and secretaries of State.
