Parish Council of São Clemente will have new headquarters in Loulé

The Parish Council of São Clemente will have a new headquarters, next to the Court of Loulé. This is an «old aspiration» of this municipality that «has operated for many years in a modest space». 

This Wednesday, February 25th, the deed constituting the surface rights of a lot was signed, in favor of the Parish Council of S. Clemente.

According to the Câmara de Loulé, «this is an old aspiration of one of the largest and most numerous parishes in the Algarve, an administrative part of the city of Loulé (together with S. Sebastião) and which has operated for many years in a modest space, without the capacity to respond to the needs of the customers and to the work of a Board that has been receiving more and more powers».

The land is located at the confluence of Rua José Afonso and Rua Dr. Laura Ayres, parallel to Avenida José da Costa Mealha, with an area of ​​225,00 m2, allowing the construction of 4+1 floors above ground.

The next step will be the design of the building.

For Carlos Filipe, president of the Parish Council of S. Clemente, «we are now closer to fulfilling the commitment of building the Council building, contributing to providing a better public service to the population and opening it up to the community, allowing the building to can not only guarantee the best provision of the services it provides, but also create new dynamics».

The creation, in the heart of the city of Loulé, of a modern building that contributes to the improvement of the conditions of the workers of the Board and to strengthen the quality of this, which is a public service of proximity, so important for the local population, will be remarkable for the future of the city of Loulé", considers, in turn, Ana Machado, vice-president of the Municipality of Loulé.

With an area of ​​46,2 km² and a population of around 18 thousand inhabitants, S. Clemente is the most urban parish in the city of Loulé, where some of the main public services of the municipality of Loulé are located, such as the Town Hall building, the Court, the Municipal Library or the Sports Pavilion.
