VRSA and Castro Marim unite to support the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters

Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of VRSA and Castro Marim turned 133

The Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA) and Castro Marim celebrated its 133rd Anniversary, ending the ceremony marked by the signing of the Intermunicipal Protocol between this Association and the municipalities of VRSA and Castro Marim, which allows the financial and operational support of the structure in the field of civil protection and rescue, which also translates into the officialization of Castro Marim in the name of the Firefighters.

The celebration was attended by the president of the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of VRSA and Castro Marim, the president of the General Assembly of the Association, the commander of the Fire Department, the regional commander of Emergency and Civil Protection, the Sub-Regional commander of Emergency and Civil Protection, the president of the League of Portuguese Firefighters, the vice-president of the Algarve Firefighters Federation, and the mayors of Castro Marim and VRSA.

Second, Francisco Amaral, mayor of Castro Marim, despite the difficulties in fitting the financial availability for this support into the municipality's public accounts, «it was possible, in 5 years, to go from a support of 50 thousand euros to a municipal responsibility seven times greater , amounting today to 340 thousand euros» between the protocol signed today and the protocols for the operation of two permanent intervention teams, to which an investment of around 85 thousand euros should be added to support the acquisition of Personal Protection Equipment.

«A new chapter in the long history of the Humanitarian Association, in which we want to be present, not by our own right, but as traveling partners on a path that is built with commitment, dedication, spirit of mission and personal sacrifice», concluded the mayor of Castromarin in a day on which the recognition of Castro Marim's name in the Association's corporate name was also celebrated.
