Lifeguard certification validity extended until the end of the year

Cards that expire between January 1st and December 31st are considered valid

The Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN) has extended the validity of certification for lifeguards until December 31st, with all lifeguard cards that expire between January 1st and December 31st of this year being considered valid. , informed the National Maritime Authority. 

According to this authority, this measure also applies to additional modules to the lifeguard course and the ISN, as the certifying entity for the professional activity of lifeguards, will carry out sessions of Specific Examinations of Technical Aptitude (EEAT) for the purposes of of recertification in the categories of lifeguard and lifeguard coordinator.

In the Algarve, the EEAT sessions take place in Albufeira, on the 7th of February and the 1st and 29th of March.

In a note, the Maritime Authority stresses that these sessions are the only way for lifeguards to ensure the recertification of their cards without having to attend a new training, as well as foreign lifeguards who wish to have their training recognized in Portugal, for this, register as early as possible, in order to guarantee that you have the valid certification to perform functions.

Considering this planning, 270 vacancies will be available for recertification in the coming months of February and March across the country.
