Three men, aged 27, 38 and 42, were arrested last Tuesday, January 24, for committing burglaries in homes in the Algarve region.
During an investigation that began in January last year, by the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the PSP in Tavira, a joint police operation was carried out with the GNR, which aimed to dismantle a group that acted in an organized way with the aim of robbing homes. in the Sotavento Algarve.
According to the GNR, thefts occurred in houses located on the outskirts of urban areas, taking advantage of the «temporary absence of the owners at the end of the day and the beginning of the night».
As several thefts were being investigated by the PSP and the GNR, in which there were indications of having been carried out by the same group, joint investigations were launched that allowed the suspects to be arrested, in flagrante delicto, in a house in the Quarteira area.
Four searches were also carried out, two at residences and the same number in vehicles, in the municipality of Faro and in the city of Olhão, which made it possible to recover stolen material, large sums of money, pieces of gold and other precious metals, as well as various objects stolen from the interior of houses.
«Taking into account the high volume of material seized, namely watches and pieces of jewelery (rings, earrings, medals, necklaces, among others) in gold and other metals and precious stones», the GNR asked «all citizens with residences in the area of the Algarve who have been the target of theft inside and who eventually have not formalized the respective complaint, who go to the PSP Faro to proceed with the denouncement of the crime and eventual recognition/recovery of objects stolen and now seized»
This operation had elements of the Police Division of the PSP from Faro, of the areas of Criminal Investigation and Rapid Intervention, and with the reinforcement of military personnel from the Criminal Investigation structure of the GNR of Faro and the Intervention Detachment (DI) of Faro.
The three arrested will now be present at the Judicial Court of Faro for the application of enforcement measures.
