Minister starts “Open Health” with visit to Monchique Health Center

“Open Health” initiative travels through the Algarve today

The Minister of Health Manuel Pizarro was on the morning of Monday, January 23, in Monchique, where he visited the Health Centre.

This visit followed the request for an “urgent meeting” by the mayor of Monchique, related to the worsening situation of proximity health services in the municipality and the urgency for the SNS to guarantee quality responses to the user population.

Paulo Alves took the opportunity to reinforce the concern with the provision of this service, and showed his total availability so that, together, the best solutions can be found to guarantee the purpose of the SNS.

In a note, the municipality recalls that it is in the public discussion phase, until February 14, the municipal regulation project for support for doctors to stay in the municipality. This is a proposal that aims to reinforce the municipality's commitment to the search for better solutions for Monchique, given the current scenario of inability of health services to renew the medical staff in the face of an aging population in a municipality marked by the problem of interiority.
