Gonçalo Ramos elected “Sports Personality of the Algarve” in 2022

The Fair Play – RUA FM Algarve Sports Personality trophy was handed over at Benfica Campus by the coordinator Rafael Duarte

The young footballer Gonçalo Ramos was considered the “Sports Personality of the Algarve”, of last year, for the sports section “Fair Play”, of Rádio Universitária do Algarve (RUA) FM.

The year in which Benfica's striker made his mark – he has already scored 15 goals this season – was also marked by his call-up to the national team.

The youngster, born in Olhão, represented Portugal at the World Cup, where, in the round of XNUMX, scored a hat-trick against Switzerland.

Gonçalo Ramos then became the second youngest player ever to make a hat trick in the knockout stage of a World Cup, just behind Pelé, who did the same at 17 in 1958.

The footballer was born in Olhão and follows in the footsteps of his father, Manuel Ramos, who played for Farense, and his maternal grandfather, who played for Olhanense. It was there, in Olhão, that Gonçalo started his career and left in 2011 for the SL Benfica Training and Training Center in Loulé.

Two years later he moved to Lisbon and started training at the Academy in Seixal at the age of 13. He joined the main team in 2020 and has already scored 29 goals in 83 games for the Reds.

The Fair Play – RUA FM Algarve Sports Personality trophy was handed over at Benfica Campus by the coordinator of the section Rafael Duarte.

Fair Play is a feature that emerged in 2017 and aims to bring sport closer to the Algarve by disclosing, every Wednesday at 12:00 and 16:30 on 102.7FM or rua.pt, sporting events and personalities that are linked to Algarve sport .
