The 21nd Meeting of Friends of the Caminhos de Santiago of the Algarve Region will take place on the 15st of January, at 00 pm, at the Municipal Library of Loulé.

«This is a meeting whose purpose is to encourage participants to get to know – and to do – the Ways of Santiago», says the Câmara de Loulé.

At this time, the history of the Camino de Santiago will be explained, which are the different paths that the pilgrim can take, the necessary materials, how many kilometers he must travel to gain access to the pilgrim credential, who can access the network of hostels, the associated costs and other questions that may arise.

The meeting will be attended by Luís Ferreira, author of the book “Why Walk?”, and with the testimony of several pilgrims from the Algarve who have made the Caminhos de Santiago.

There will also be a moment of poetry by Isa Patrício.

The event is free entry.

The Camino de Santiago de Compostela has become a spiritual and cultural itinerary of the first order, which is traveled by tens or hundreds of thousands of people every year. It was declared the First European Cultural Route in 1987 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
