The Algarve has been listening to “A Rua da Europa” for a year

Every week, 10 volunteers are involved in the preparation, recording and editing of the rubric

A “Europe Street”, section dedicated to the European project, celebrates one year of broadcast on Rádio Universitária do Algarve (RUA) FM, having hosted «many young people and inspiring projects».

Weekly, on Mondays at 08:45 am, repeating at 18:45 pm, Rua da Europa has a special 1st anniversary broadcast – which can now be heard.

In this episode, the listener «is taken for a walk down a very special street», says the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of the Algarve.

«It is a journey through the cultural and linguistic diversity of Europe – through “SpeakCorner”, but it is also a journey of encounters, with young people and inspiring projects – through the “Highlights” in an interview model».

In “A Rua da Europa” there is also space to inform and invite reflection on the European project – with the news “Breves” and “Did you know that?”.

The objective of the programme, which developed and matured during the European Year of Youth 2022, is to give voice to young people who are in the region or come from the Algarve, inviting them to actively participate in building the European project.

For this reason, the monthly alignment of programs tries to accompany the most relevant initiatives and projects, for young people between 17 and 35 years old, at European level (Erasmus + and others), but also at regional and cross-border level: commemoration of anniversaries , European weeks, events, volunteer opportunities, internships or jobs, among others.

Every week, 10 volunteers are involved in the preparation, recording and editing of the rubric (who succeeded the first 6).

The team, mostly under 35 years old, includes a former student from ETIC Algarve, a student from Escola Secundária Tomas Cabreira, Communication students from the University of Algarve, a journalist, a young scientist from the Centro de Ciência Viva do Algarve team ( CCValg), two young entrepreneurs and two colleagues from the European networks CDE and EuropeDirect

The heading «A Rua da Europa» is an initiative of the European Documentation Center of the University of Algarve and Europe Direct Algarve, hosted by the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development (CCDR) of the Algarve Region, in partnership with the MOVE Algarve Network and the support of RUA FM – Rádio Universitária do Algarve.
