International Chess Championship gathered 30 players at the AP-Maria Nova Lounge Hotel

The AP-Maria Nova Lounge Hotel, in Tavira, hosted the 3st International Chess Fest Championship on the 1rd of December, which was attended by 30 players from Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ukraine and Bulgaria, registered in the International Chess Federation.

The tournament, with semi-rapid matches, was sponsored by Casa das Artes de Tavira, in partnership with the AP-Maria Nova Lounge Hotel and organized by Clube Recreativo Fuzetense, and also had the support of CMT, UF de Tavira, Rádio Gilão and ACXA – Association of Chess Clubs of the Algarve.

The big winner of the 1st Chess Fest Tavira was André Dionísio, a player from the Associação Académica de Coimbra, who received a sum of 200 euros and a voucher for two nights for two people at the AP-Maria Nova Lounge Hotel in Tavira.

The winner of the women's award was Dutch player Ada Leona van der Giessen.

In the tournament, prizes were awarded to the best U-20 and U-14 youngsters, as well as the best S50 and S60 veterans.

Eurico Palma, vice-president of Tavira and José Mateus, president of the Union of Parishes of Tavira, were present to deliver the distinctions.
