76 detained in the Algarve in the last week

Between December 12st and December 19rd

The GNR arrested 76 people in the Algarve, between the 12th and 18th of December. 

The results of weekly operations in the district of Faro, aimed at preventing and combating violent crime, road inspection, among others, were released this Monday and highlight 33 arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, 13 for driving without a legal license and four for drug trafficking.

During this period, 34 doses of hashish, 27 of cocaine, 21 doses of cannabis, three cannabis plants and two vehicles were also seized.

In traffic, 415 infringements were recorded, with emphasis on 87 for speeding, 57 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 16 related to anomalies in the lighting and signaling systems, 15 for lack of civil liability insurance, 15 for improper use of the mobile phone while driving and nine due to missing or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems.

Between the 12th and the 18th of December, there were also 134 accidents – which caused four serious injuries and 33 minor injuries – and there were 31 actions carried out, which sensitized 428 people under the Safe School and 145 elderly people sensitized under the Safe Elderly Programme.
