“Algarve + Sustainable” received 200 visitors in Aljezur

One of the days was entirely dedicated to the debate and had about 60 participants

The “Algarve + Sustainable”, which took place from the 18th to the 22nd of October, in Aljezur, was visited by “over 200 hundreds of visitors, including children, adults interested in the themes, professionals and entrepreneurs of nature tourism and public entities”.

At the Aljezur Municipal Market, six companies exhibited their sustainable solutions for nature tourism businesses, from surfing to the rehabilitation of rivers and streams or the presentation of services to promote low-density territories.

In the workshops, promoted by public and private entities and aimed at professionals in the sector, the “Sustainability Workshop: Algarve 2030 Program funding opportunities” was the one that captivated the most participants.

The 21st was entirely dedicated to the debate and had around 60 participants.

The opening was in charge of the representatives of the organizing entities: José Gonçalves, mayor of Aljezur, Aura Fraga, president of the Associação Vicentina, João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region and also by Joaquim Brandão Pires, representing AMAL, and José Apolinário, president of the Algarve Regional Development and Coordination Commission.

The third and fourth axes of the “Plano Turismo + Sustentável do Turismo de Portugal” were under debate, with the issue of water in the region and the need for a vision of the tourism sector in an integrated way with other areas such as agriculture, were the themes which generated more discussion.

On the last day, the event was open to the general public with various nature tourism activities, cultural moments and handicraft workshops. The latter, for the construction of nest boxes, palm brooms and boxes to keep memories, promoted respectively by Vita Nativa, Proactivetur and Cooperativa QRER “were the ones that captivated the interest of the youngest”, according to the organization.

The animation throughout the event was always in charge of Algarve artists, namely, Gonçalo Pescada and Mário Marques with the “Rouge” project, Aljezur Philharmonic Band, Al-Fanfare and Mateus Verde with the “Sons do Chão” project.
