Presentation of the work will be in charge of António Feu

The Municipal Museum of Portimão will host, next Saturday, October 22nd, at 17 pm, the presentation of the book «A Indústria de Conservas de Peixe do Algarve (1865-1945)», by historian Joaquim Manuel Vieira Rodrigues, an edition by Arandis Editora.

The presentation of the work will be in charge of António Feu, former canning industrialist and current president of the General Assembly of the Group of Friends of the Museum of Portimão. This Museum, by the way, was built on the premises of the old cannery Feu Hermanos.

With 274 pages, the book traces the history of the canning industry, one of the main economic pillars of the Algarve in the first half of the XNUMXth century in Vila Real de Santos António, Lagos, Portimão, Olhão, Tavira, Faro, Carvoeiro, Armação de Pêra, Albufeira and Quarteira.

Arandis Editora considers the book to be «a fundamental work for understanding the evolution of the canning industry, but also of the economy of the Algarve region».
