José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, traveled to Lisbon this month to demand “more and better means of assistance in the area of Health” in the municipality.

The mayor's concerns about the medical emergency were presented to António Lacerda Sales, Assistant Secretary of State and Health, who was "sensitive" to his requests.

«What I asked the Secretary of State for was another ambulance from INEM, as well as two more for the Firefighters under protocol and another one with the Red Cross, this being reinforced mainly in the summer season. And that would be the minimum”, says the mayor.

José Carlos Rolo also said that Albufeira has difficulties in pre-hospital care throughout the year, as it is a tourist municipality, «which means that it has a floating population much higher than those recorded in the 2021 Census. (44 thousand residents)'.

Thus, reaching the months of July and August, the president emphasizes that the population reaches 500 thousand people, «which translates into an overload for the reduced resources that Albufeira has, that is, an ambulance registered with the delegation of the Red Cross Albufeira- Silves, based in Ferreiras, and one signed with the Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Albufeira».

With this Association, last July, the transfer of a rescue motorcycle was also signed, which translates into a totality of very scarce resources.
